SAN JOSE DEL CABO
Things to Do:
- Visit Flora Farms, an organic farm, to explore the grounds, enjoy a spa treatment, eat at their amazing farm-to-table restaurant (open Tue-Sat, lunch 11-2pm, brunch Sundays from 10-2pm. Be sure to make reservations), check out their artisan shops or even book a few nights in their straw bale luxury cottages. A $6 Uber from centre of San Jose del Cabo
- Walk along Costa Azul beach (great at sunset)
- Thursday evenings go on an art walk (galleries stay open until 9pm from Nov – June), wine tastings and can meet the artists, live music and downtown streets are closed. Be sure to check out Ivan Guaderrama’s Interactive Art Gallery…it’ll blow your mind
EATS:
Abby’s El Chino Seafood – fantastic cheap seafood tacos with friendly staff
Aguachiles El Moky – amazing fresh shrimp ceviche served w/ corn tortillas at a little mom & pop place filled with locals. Be sure to ask for less spicy unless you want you’re mouth on fire!
La Lupita’s – the most unreal tacos and perfect margaritas
French Riviera Bakery – great place for croissants and tasty treats
Adelita’s – really friendly staff. No menu so let them pick their dish of the day. You won’t be disappointed!
Mark’s Grill – super friendly staff (ask for Dennis to be your server). Ask for sope (a hamburger patty thick tortilla topped w/ meat, refried beans, lettuce, tomato and cheese). It’s not on the menu but the chef made it for me and it was delicious and a massive helping.
CABO SAN LUCAS
Can take the bus Ruta del Desierto from San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas (runs approx every 10mins and pay in pesos). Can take same bus to beaches outside of Cabo.
Can take Ubers or Didi around Cabo but not from airport. I used Welcome Pickups which I arranged before my arrival online.
Can rent vehicle from local company called Cactus Rent A Car (www.cactuscar.com). More reliable than big chain rental places
Things to Do:
- walk the length of El Medano Beach. If you go to the South end where there aren’t any all-inclusives it’s much quieter and relaxing w/ no locals pestering you or loud club music
- check out the public beach past the marina. Nice soft sand and palm frond umbrellas for shade.
- Walk the length of the marina first thing in the morning and look for the 2 neighbourhood seals sunbathing
- For any water sport activities or boats to The Arch, there are a multitude of operators along the beach and marina. Shop around for what you want and a good price.
- Book food tour w/ Juan More Taco Tours www.juanmoretacotours.com
- Walk up the switchback roads to Pedegral (rocky mountain) for views of the town.
- Highly recommend booking a flight in an ultralight w/ Ernesto at Cabo Sky Tours. He’s located near El Medano Beach. Cash only. Open everyday except Sunday from 8-7pm. Have the option to fly over Land’s End and The Arch. Cell phone: +52 624 150 1000 (WhatsApp) or Email at: caboskytours@yahoo.com.mx. https://www.loscabosguide.com/cabo-sky-tours/
- Day trip to Todos Santos (can take local Aguila bus but having a car is better so you can make some stop Punta Lobos beach along the way). Can book bus at www.autobusesaguila.com) or buy ticket when you arrive at station. Bus leaves every hour starting at 5:45am – 9:45pm and costs approx 140 pesos
