Yesterday was a lazy day so today I opt to amp it up and hop in an Uber to visit Flora Farms, a 25-acre organic farm that boasts a fabulous farm-to-table restaurant, artisan shops, straw bale luxury cottages and a spa. I spend the morning wandering the grounds, eating fresh donuts and listening to live music in the chill atmosphere.
I order an Uber to take me back to the town centre and Saul, my sixteen year old Uber driver, arrives with the Mexican dance music cranked. I yell “Buenos dias” and before I can even buckle my seat belt he’s got the pedal to the metal and we’re off, careening around the roundabouts on two tires. We make it back to town in record time and I happily exit the vehicle, barely having time to shut the door before he zooms off to his next pick-up.
Lunch is in order and I’m sticking to my theme of trying a new, fabulous spot. I locate Adelitas near my condo which has a colourful mural painted on the exterior. Upon entering, I’m the only customer and I’m greeted with enthusiasm by the staff. There’s no menu and the meals offered change daily. I choose chicken quesadillas on my server’s recommendation and while I’m waiting she brings freshly made corn chips that are still warm and mouth watering salsa that has just enough of a spicy kick to do a dance in my mouth. My lunch arrives and it is delicious! I’ve never been a huge lover of Mexican food, but that has definitely changed since being here. I haven’t been disappointed by a meal yet.
After lunch I walk along Costa Azul for a couple hours to work off the donuts, chips and quesadillas I’ve consumed over the course of the day. It’s clouded over this afternoon with a nice breeze coming off the water so the temperature is perfect for a walking workout.
